When not engrossed reading a good book on my kindle, watching science fiction, singing with the Cappella Singers or looking for new apps for my Iphone or Ipad l also trawl through the Internet and post useful articles on my Blog. I welcome your thoughtful contributions or questions.  I mainly hangout on Google+ where I find a nice level of engagement and plenty of interesting posts. I also use Twitter and Facebook. For video conversations I use Skype but am actively looking for an alternative. I am still amazed at what you can do on the Internet and where it's possible I enjoy being an early adopter.

I am a Secular Humanist and passionate supporter of Social Justice issues and can be found on Google+ in heated but respectful debate on these and many other topics. When reading I enjoy Science Fiction, Fantasy and History as well as good smattering of Politics. If I had to choose a hero a word that is often over used I would say Carl Sagan. So that's me if you want to know more just drop me a line via my Contact Page or through the social media sites I have mentioned.

New Ipad

Apple today announced through a keynote the new Ipad. Now before you say Ipad3 the new Ipad has no name it's just Ipad. The main changes are a much improved (retina) display and better 5 mega pixel camera with HD 1080p video a duel core processor with quad core graphics. It also supports LTE 4G mobile networks in the US and Canada but not the new Australian 4G networks being rolled out by Telstra and Optus. You can get your hands on one from the 16th March. For more information and specs on the Ipad just click on the link below.

Squarespace 6 (beta)

This site is powered by Squarespace and the they have been building a new version of their web software. I have been sent an invitation to test the beta version and have created a site to do this. If you want to take a look here is the link.

Please remember this is beta and as such there maybe some quirky things. Also the theme or look may change a lot as I get my head around all the changes. Any constructive feedback would be welcome and I will pass this on to the developers at Squarespace.

First post of the year

Yes I know I have been slack in not posting until now but I hope you will forgive me. I have been engrossed playing Skyrim. If you don't know what that is I have added a little video.

Russian Concert

Last Sunday (27th November) the Cappella Singers and the Mansfield & District Orchestra (MAD) performed a concert of Russian music. I was able to have some of the concert videoed. If you would like to take a look you can see them either from my Video Channel or direct from my YouTube Page.

The video was taken with a little hand held Flip Video Camera.

Google+ Business Pages

Google have just launched Google+ Business Pages. When Google+ first launched they told businsses and brands not to use the Profile as a page. Google actually inforced this by deleting accounts who tried to use individual profiles as business pages. Now Google has launched Pages if you have been waiting you can now create a page for your business or service. I have created one. If you want to take a look I have created a sub domain to make it easier to find.

This page will have information and posts on IT and other related services. Where as my Google+ Profile has more eclectic posts on all sorts of topics. If you have not visited my Google+ Profile I again have created a sub domaim to make it easier to find.

Please don't hesitate to visit either site and if I can help you with anything just ask.

IOS5 has arrived

Early this morning I started to update my Iphone with the newest version of the operating system (IOS5) The risk of be one of the first is that everybody else is thinking the same thing and you end up spending hours downloading and installing because the sheer numbers crash the Apple servers, and that is what happened.

Several aborted attempts later and about 3 hours and I finally ha the shiny new upgrade. I hindsight I should have waited until later in the day but hey I am an early adopter what can I say. Anyway after having an early play I really like the new version especially the new message centre which was really modelled on the Android style.

If you have an Iphone I would highly recommend upgrading to IOS5.
