IOS5 has arrived

Early this morning I started to update my Iphone with the newest version of the operating system (IOS5) The risk of be one of the first is that everybody else is thinking the same thing and you end up spending hours downloading and installing because the sheer numbers crash the Apple servers, and that is what happened.

Several aborted attempts later and about 3 hours and I finally ha the shiny new upgrade. I hindsight I should have waited until later in the day but hey I am an early adopter what can I say. Anyway after having an early play I really like the new version especially the new message centre which was really modelled on the Android style.

If you have an Iphone I would highly recommend upgrading to IOS5.

Apple has now released IOS 5.01 this is mainly a bug fix version in particular fixing battery drain problems with the Iphone 4s. Also for us Australians Siri has been fixed to better understand the Australian accent. You no longer need to update your software from Itunes it can now be done via Wifi. I did it last night and it was a painless operation.

IOS5 Beta 1

I earlier posted on Apples announcement of IOS5 which will be released later this year. Here is a nice video from TodaysIphone showing some of the new features working. This is a beta version but will give you some ideas about what is comming up.

IOS5 First Look

Apple has announced it's next version of it's mobile and Tablet operating system (IOS5). It will be released later in the year. I have included the promotional video from Apple so you can see what is up coming. Remember this video is from Apple I am sure as IOS5 moves closer too release there will be other reviews to look out for.

IOS 4.3 Released

Apple have now released IOS version 4.3 for Iphone & Ipad. This update is not a revolutionary change but more evolutionary.  The main changes are.

* Personal Hotspot

- Share iPhone 4 cellular data with up to 5 devices (combination of up to 3 Wi-Fi, 3 Bluetooth, and 1 USB)

* iTunes Home Sharing

- Play music, movies, and TV shows from a shared iTunes library on a Mac or PC (requires iTunes 10.2)

* New AirPlay features

- Play videos from the Photos app including the Camera Roll album, iTunes previews, enabled third-party apps and websites on Apple TV

- Play slideshows from Photos on Apple TV using transitions available on Apple TV

* Faster Safari performance with Apple Nitro JavaScript engine

* HD video out using the Apple Digital AV Adapter

- View 720p HD videos from Videos app, iPod app, Photos, YouTube, Safari, Keynote, and enabled third-party apps on an HDMI display

* Ping features

- Push notifications for comments and follow requests

- Post and Like songs directly from the Now Playing screen

- Parental controls

* New Settings

- Messages setting for number of times to repeat an alert

- iPad side switch setting to lock screen rotation or mute audio notifications and sound effects

* Single tap conference call dialing with a pause to send a passcode

* Bug fixes
