Learnscape site being updated

I am currently updating my Learnscape Moodle site to the new version 2 so you may not be able to access until it is completed. Hopefully there will be no upgrade problems (cross fingers) I will post here when it is all up and running.

If you wondered why when you go to my Learnscape site you get some error messages well that's what happens sometimes when you do a big upgrade. I am still trying to work through the problems so i can complete it. Will update here when it is up and running again.

Am still having issues with upgrading my Moodle site. After some reply's on the Moodle forum i decided not to upgrade to version 2 so I am staying with the 1.9X version until 2 is fixed. The site is now up but it has not yet been upgraded to 1.9.10 as i am still having some issues. So bare with me while I journey through the rocky path of upgrading.

Moodle 2 Demo Site

Moodle have just announced a school demo site for Moodle 2.0  If you want to have a play with Moodle 2 but your organisation has yet to upgrade then you might find this site useful. To take a look you can visit.

Moodle RC2

Moodle 2.0 is now a step closer with the release of Moodle RC 2.0. It is believed that the final (gold) version will be released sometime before the 20th November.  Moodle 2.0 contains a lot of large new features, some completely rewritten features, and hundreds of bug fixes. If you want to find more information you can take a look at the complete release notes for 2.0.

Once the final gold version has been released and I can evaluate the feedback I will upgrade my Learnscape site.

Moodle 2.0 has now been released. Below is the release statment from Lead Developer Martin Dougiamas.

Well, after about two and a half years of work by hundreds of people, I'm proud to say that we have a Moodle 2.0 ready for you to download.

All the functional QA tests have passed, all the 3873 unit tests are passing, and enough people think it's finished, so it must be finished.    The last step was to take the (now traditional) Moodle version photo of my kids for this news post, which I did today.

I know it's taken a long time, it's been a rough and rocky road.   A huge thank you must go out to all the developers, testers, supporters, teachers, trainers, administrators, artists, friends, researchers and students who have contributed to this release.  Special thanks to our Moodle Partners for providing most of the funding.

The scope was rather ambitious, with hundreds of refactorings and new features.  The release notes have most of the details, but we'll be continuing to present news about Moodle 2.0 here on moodle.org (and elsewhere) over the next few months.

Development-wise in the near future we at Moodle HQ are continuing refinement work on Moodle 2.0.1, with particular focus on performance and robustness.  We are also switching the whole project from CVS to git and taking the opportunity to significantly improve our entire development process with more staff and better structures and workflow.  We have big plans!

I'll have a lot more news soon.  For now, enjoy the free code!

Using Comments & Blogs

Moodle 2.0

The first release candidate for Moodle 2.0 has been released on the Moodle community website. If your interested in Moodle and want to find out more about Moodle 2.0 take a look at the Release Notes I will be upgrading my Moodle install at Learnscape once the gold version is released.

If your interested in taking a look at the new Moodle 2.0 as i write this the moodle.org community site is being upgraded to version 2.0. So when it is completed you will be able to take it for a road test.

The moodle.org community website has now been updated to version 2.0 so if you are interested you can start taking a look at the new features of 2.0

Here is a nice video explaining all the new features of Moodle 2.0. It was created before Moodle went Beta. Moodle is now in Release Candidate mode.
